New Delhi: The Data and Broadcasting Ministry on Tuesday stated in a “carefully coordinated” effort with intelligence companies, it has ordered blocking of 20 YouTube channels and two web sites as they have been spreading anti-India propaganda and faux information.
On Monday, the ministry issued two orders, one directing YouTube to dam the 20 channels and the opposite, for blocking of the information web sites.
“The channels and the web sites belong to a coordinated disinformation community working from Pakistan and spreading faux information about varied delicate topics associated to India,” the data and broadcasting ministry stated in a press release on Tuesday.
The channels have been used to submit “divisive content material in a coordinated method on subjects like Kashmir, Indian military, minority communities in India, Ram Mandir, Common Bipin Rawat and so on”, it stated.
In a video message, Data and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur stated “sturdy motion” has been taken towards 20 YouTube channels and two web sites as they have been creating an environment of “worry and confusion” in India by working faux information and anti-India contents in violation of Indian legal guidelines.

The ministry in its assertion stated the modus operandi of the anti-India disinformation marketing campaign concerned the Naya Pakistan Group (NPG), working from Pakistan, which has a community of YouTube channels, and another standalone YouTube channels not associated to NPG.
“In a carefully coordinated effort between intelligence companies and the ministry of data and broadcasting, the ministry on Monday ordered blocking of 20 channels on YouTube and two web sites spreading anti-India propaganda and faux information on the web,” it stated.
By two separate orders, “one for 20 YouTube channels directing YouTube, and the opposite for 2 information web sites, requesting division of telecom to direct the web service suppliers for blocking of the information channels/portals”, the assertion stated.
The ministry shared the record of 20 YouTube channels, ordered to be blocked, together with display screen photographs of among the “factually incorrect and anti-India contents” run on them, saying that they had a mixed subscriber base of over 35 lakh individuals and their movies had over 55 crore views.
“Among the YouTube channels of the Naya Pakistan Group (NPG) have been being operated by anchors of Pakistani information channels,” it added.
The ministry stated that these YouTube channels had posted contents on points such because the farmers’ protest, protests associated to the Citizenship (Modification) Act, and “additionally tried to incite minorities towards the Authorities of India.”

Of the 20 YouTube channels, the data and broadcasting minister stated 15 have been run by the NPG.
The Punch Line, InternationalWeb Information, Khalsa TV, The Bare Fact, 48 Information, Fictional, Historic Details, Punjab Viral, Naya Pakistan World, Cowl Story, Go World eCommerce, Junaid Haleem Official, Tayyab Hanif, Zain Ali Official, Mohsin Rajput Official, Kaneez Fatima, Sadaf Durrani, Mian Imran Ahmad, Najam Ul Hassan Bajwa are among the many 20 YouTube channels ordered to be blocked, in keeping with the small print shared by the ministry.
