Okayarmack is a US city so unfortunate that somebody is employed particularly to ship the day by day batches of unhealthy information. The newest “center man” is Frank (Pål Sverre Hagen), who, it seems, suffers from his personal share of the city’s misfortunes. This English-language characteristic from Norwegian director Bent Hamer (Kitchen Stories) is infused with a really Nordic tragicomic sensibility. And this, along with a predominantly Scandinavian forged, implies that the movie feels oddly rootless, by no means fairly persuading as a bit of small-town Americana. Nonetheless, it’s ruefully entertaining and appears terrific, with a color palette of sullen blues and ill-natured yellows.
