The Nutcracker and the Magic Flute review – a turkey with all the trimmings

by admin

The title of this dismal, Russian-produced animation is a mashup of the Tchaikovsky ballet and the Mozart opera. However the story, a nonsensical magical Christmas quest involving evil humanoid rats, has little bearing on both. Teenager Marie is threatened with marriage with a view to save her mom from debtor’s jail. For some cause she shrinks, and all her favorite childhood toys, together with the world’s most punchable ostrich, come to life. The animation type is artificial, the story is illogical, and the songs make you wish to plug your ears with stollen.
